So in order to make OBD writing/reading safe and be able to normally read and write the ECU you need to remove tprot - so you need to read software, make mods as described and then checksum and write and you will after this, then be able to R/W by obd tools without problems. |

RE: How to remove Tprot on VAG EDC/MED17x ecu
When ksuite CAN R/W option able via OBD whit Kess V2.
I ever read TC17xx whit KTAG in Tricore Mode, press PATCH button, load BCK ALL file and write it on ecu automatically. Now i mount ecu on car, read whit KEss V2 in serial MOde OBD whitout problem, and i start to mod whit file read whit kess v2. In second case, for example EDC17C46 or C64, when Kess v2 can WRITE ONLY, missing READ button, i read and write whit ktag a patched file. OR directly write PATCHED file whitout TPtrot in obd mode, and write directly tuned file based on patched file Tprot OFF. Alientech send whit online form FILE just patched TProt OFF read to write, included new EDC17CP74 for example. Now is possible tuned by OBD BMW F series whit EDC17C50/C56 and others |

hi ROD-BENDERS, what do you think about this one? Its edc17c64 sw 04L907309B
i can find the hex string you talk about but its half way down the in the file, but i did however notice that all the files you show the string is almost at the top and it always has a 99 after, so i searched again with 3C 2B 99 AND I FIND THIS. im sure this is tprot but why has it got an 02 and not an 01? |
