ORenult  Renault Laguna III: TPMS Sensor Programming
While most people want to disable the TPMS sensors on their cars, Im the other way. I want to program some new TPMS sensors.

I bought a cheap EL-50448 device which appears to be only for GM but rumoured to wake up other TPMS sensors too. However this doesn't seem to work.

I finally got my canclip working once today, and the car cannot see the new sensors, and I cannot find any way to program the codes manually.

Any thoughts on how to do this?

RE: Renault Laguna III: TPMS Sensor Programming
it's not enough can clip to solve new sensors....you need another device wich awakens to life the new senzsors and clip confirm the new positions on car.
use Renolink to desable....

RE: Renault Laguna III: TPMS Sensor Programming
There's three possibilities I can think of:

1) The VDO Sensors I bought from autodoc may not be VDO sensors and may be cheap chinest knock offs. I've contacted VDO for help but no response yet. AutoDoc are selling as VDO.
2) The Tool I have doesn't activate the sensors - in which case stay clear of EL-50448 - do you know what I might need to activate?
3) I don't have the receiver module and someone has just enabled TPMS sensors in the UCH - though presumably if the receiver was missing, I would get an error?

Thanks

RE: Renault Laguna III: TPMS Sensor Programming
I can confirm that this process works as I've just done it.

After acquiring new sensors, make a note of the numbers. I took a photo as the numbers are too small, and you can expand the picture to make it easier.

There will be some text which shows in hex, ID:ABC123456 and I believe it's the last six digits you need to worry about. You cannot program them in specifically with a CanClip, you need to allow the car detect them.

If you can make a note of which sensor ID is installed in which tyre then it makes it easier to confirm the codes on the clip.

After getting the sensors fitted, you need to "wake them up". This is achieved by blowing the tyres upto 3.1 bar (~43PSI).

In the UCH section of the CanClip, there are two modes for TPMS sensors - one will allow you to "read" the other allows you to write. This is the mode you need. It'll ask you to confirm the set of tyres you're using, and then you go round each tyre with an activation tool such as the EL50448 which although advertised as being for GM cars, works just fine for these TPMS sensors as you're activating the sensor, not the car, and sensors are, for the most part, standard.

Go round the car in the order given in the CanClip to read and write all the sensors.

After the cars got everything, the pressure will display on the dashboard.

You can then let the pressure back out to normal. on the 215 tyres, 2.5bar on the front, 2.2bar on the rear.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Simon Dean
