After updating the ICOM Next A to firmware 04-24-21, under certain circumstances, an error may be observed that affects the control of the vehicle interface.
The interface controller is updated the first time the ICOM firmware is rebooted, which is signaled by a green flashing of the ICOM function button next to the OBD port.
If this update fails or is interrupted, the controller remains in a faulty state.

This bug only affects  the ICOM Next A . ICOM A and ICOM A2 are not affected by  .

The fault concerns communication via the OBD interface and can be identified by the following symptoms:

The ICOM is recognized by ISTA, but
the vehicle's on-board voltage is not displayed
the vehicle's VIN is not read,
The four LEDs on the top of the ICOM are permanently red.
To fix the interface controller malfunction, the ICOM must update the interface controller again.
This is triggered by the following process:

Connect ICOM to OBD.
If all 4 LEDs on the top are red, wait 5 minutes.
After the waiting time has elapsed, disconnect the device from the OBD and reconnect it.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 three times.
After the third reconnection at the latest, the interface should be updated within 5 minutes (the ICOM function button flashes green).
If the update is successful, the LEDs on the top switch to normal operation.
The ICOM is now functional again, a diagnosis should be possible again.
