Hi All,

I've been looking through many forum threads but am unable to get progress/understandings on the creation of certs for my CIC.

Background is the car is an:

• 2010 E70 LCI
  
• Japanese import
  
• Has C1A firmware on the CIC
  
• Has new hard drive with ECE image 
  
• Has had VO coding done to change radio region etc
  

I've got INPA, ISTA, and FSTool 2.02.00 working, though I'm not too sure about FSTool as it might not be completely working.

I've been unable to run the patcher script from this thread, unsure why  https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=23198
Previously I was able to run a script to load the 1b file onto a flash drive, and I'm unsure if the patcher script has been run before or something.

I have got through most of the instructions but it fails on the STORE_SIG_CERT command
"Error when executing Job 'StoreSigCert' [1000]"

I can also run the GetStatus command, though it returns 'Not Available' for all items.

From here I'm not sure if it is the setup on my computer, or if it is something with the CIC configuration. Any help/pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Hi,

Patcher works on latest firmware so maybe you need to update the CIC. Once patched I use dr. Gini to write certs and fsc to the HU. Much easier as using FStool in my opinion.

Patcher only works for US and ECE firmware. Not sure if it’s possible to flash Japanese to ece to be honest..

I too think its only US/ECE.

Flash the cic to the latest for us/ece and then virgin then load fsc.

Thanks for that, that narrows down what my next step it. Getting mixed results as to whether it can be flashed to a new region, and if it can be done without the somewhat expensive ICOM/MOST tools...

It can only be done with an icom, MOST adapter. for flashing the to US/ECE firmware should take about 2 hours with an icom.

I've heard it can be done over Ethernet, but it takes over 24 hours just to do the gateway part, so unless it's on a bench do not attempt this in the car.

If you don't have the tools get the firmware flashed by someone with a ICOM who knows how to do the region swap.
