Thank you!

I have just now tried flashing the last one, according to my type of headlights.

I followed the instructions to flash on expert mode, but I am being presented with the error in the photo attached.

What am I missing guys? I appreciate any input and tip.

So I think the problem might be that the modules HW number is “blank” or corrupted, showing “yyy”.

In expert mode I get the error attached to the previous reply. I still haven’t figured that out yet. On COAPI I’m using the ZBNr in both HW and SW lines, I will try specifying the HW from the sticker and the SW of the new ZB number.

In comfort mode, still no luck. But that I think is directly related to the blank HW number. It throws an error that it can’t locate compatible hardware numbers on .HWH file.

I really can’t afford another programmer, not even an XProg clone. If there’s really no other way, I will just have to use it like it is for some considerable amount of time, before being able to resume and finish the repair.

I’m hoping you guys can save me, if it is even possible to! Thanks a lot for all the help again.

RE: E90 FRM3 - Need help getting it back to 100%
Hi everyone! Just to give you guys a follow-up and conclusion.

To sum it up, I ended up having to buy a programmer. I used it to flash the files sent by you guys, who I thank very very much for the help. After I flashed it, the basic functions were still working, but still no fog lights. Then, I used NCSExpert to write the FA from CAS to the FRM and coded with an empty .MAN file.

After doing that, everything worked perfectly and now I’m glad to say the module is back to 100%!!! So, once again, thank you very much, everyone that has helped!

Now, to give some more details on my adventure:

- I made dozens of attempts to force WinKFP to flash the module, since the HW number was corrupt, with no success whatsoever.

- That led me to accept that I needed another programmer. I made the bad call to buy a clone X-Prog 5.55 from China, based only on their customers reviews, which seemed to point that this was a good clone, even had many of them pointing out they had success with FRMs specifically.

- The X-Prog clone couldn’t even reliably read the chips model… Even then, I managed to write some stuff to the module in a desperate attempt. It failed verification every single time, pointing out multiple errors. I wrote the chip again many times and eventually “gave up” and went to plug the module to see if I had completely destroyed it. I hadn’t, the same functions I had before were still working.

- I read online about 5.5.1 being the last stable firmware for the clone… So I found myself using the UPA-USB 1.3 clone that failed to write to the FRM, to actually write th X-Prog firmware on its AtMega64… I laughed for hours lol.

- Even then, the X-Prog couldn’t reliably read data, so I chose not to write again to it.

- To my surprise, after FA Write and Coding, the module was actually perfect. Now I suspect that X-Prog had some reading issues, but was actually able to write most, or even all of the programming.

- INPA reads good HW and SW numbers! Fog lights restored, digital adjustment of ambient light was also recognized, so everything is alright!

I hope this thread can eventually help someone that is facing similar circumstances. Once again, thanks a lot for all the assistance. This forum is absolutely the best, I’m glad to be a part of it. You guys can also count with my help, using the little knowledge I already have or might acquire. Feel free to reply or PM me if I can help. Have a good one!
