This should be the easiest install but somehow I am having a horrid time with it!! 

Car came to me with xenon lights after a nosecut job. Easy work I thought. Spliced a line to provide xenon shutter (and joined the wire for this to pin 41 of FRM)  and added an extra ground as usual. Swapped the frmfa for a max-brose frm3 from an E60 I think. Un-coded I have right side working fine but left side daylights work but xenon is off.

Now the annoying part. I change VO date to 08 and add 522 to the VO and code FRM. I loose all lights except right xenon!! no daylights on both no xenon on the left. If I default code with frms original VO (thank god I did not change it) I go back to default, rings OK, xenon right side only.

What might be causing this strange problem? I thinking of reprogramming FRM with another zusb or downgrade to FRM1 ir 2 with xenon/AHL option.

Any ideas?

I would go this way;
save donor FRM VO first. 
After that change write the desired VO in both FRM and CAS. Open ISTA P and check for software of FRM it will calculate.

On E60 Pre LCI LM1 angel eyes are on pins 25 and 40, on LCI with LM2 is on 63 and 11.
Check the pins!

FRM3 MAX Brose from e60? I think you mean E9x/E8x etc. To get at least DRLs back you need to repin:

DRL right:
X14260 - PIN 8 BLACK/BLUE -> PIN 14

DRL left:
X14261 - PIN 50 BLACK/GREEN -> PIN 41

What you have already done is:
Added shutter wire to X14260 -> Pin 41

Also, did you add ground for both headlights at pin2/4?

add ground on pin 2, move pin 6 to pin 5 on headlight side
then on frm side 6 x14261 and 4 x14260 connect together, and put them in 41 x14260
basing on tis, left drl 50 x14261 to 37 x14261, right drl 8 x14260 to 3 x14260(drl needs thicker cable)
i believe you have good headlights
also coding max brose should work without changing vo

if you want to add only xenon headlights you should do as i write on first line without any coding

Still he´s using a FRM3, so he has to rewire drls.
DRL wiring in my post is correct, your´s not ("left drl 50 x14261 to 37 x14261, right drl 8 x14260 to 3 x14260(drl needs thicker cable)")

Also if he´s coding it with VO 2008+522 he needs high taillights + changed wiring

Thanks guys. The issue seems to have been the left light. Opened the back and noticed internal wires were naked, insulation had dried and flaked off. I think short circuits were causing the light to be switched off.

Separated them, reconnected and light came alive. Did not even need to code the frm 3!!
