Mercedes gearbox problem
Hi all, a friend has this old 2005 clk kompressor 1.8, some times even on a cold morning it won't go into D, this can happen at anytime, let's say for instance he's out driving all day, pulls into the shop and car won't go into D, he's found a solution by removing the battery lead for around an hour and she's fine again, has anyone ever came across this problem ?

The gear lever (its position sensor) is damaged. |

RE: Mercedes gearbox problem
The replacement is the complete lever, but you can disassemble them and use what interests you from each one.

RE: Mercedes gearbox problem
Common problem. Solution: Clean and re-solder the optocouplers.

RE: Mercedes gearbox problem
Thanks for the reply stasis, I told him that it could possibly be repaired but he's looking for a quick fix so he ordered a new shifter, cheers.
