Audi A4 40 TDI with 15,000km, and I have already 3 times that I have to add oil because I jump the warning light that there is no oil in the engine, I look at the rod and it is true.


The first warning jumped me to 5,000km. I called the workshop and the answer they gave me is that possibly in the factory they did not fill the deposit with oil, I was not very convinced but I accepted it.

At 10,000 km the same, I turn on the light of lack of oil and in the official workshop of the brand they tell me that it is normal (I think it is not very normal), I had to make a liter of oil.


Now with 15,000 km the same, I have to add one more liter of oil.

Has the same thing happened to anyone? what solution can this have?

Oil consumption is always a shitty topic, one engine needs more, the other less, but there is a manufacturer's statement of what is normal. If it then deviates greatly, the motor is sealed and the measurement is taken precisely.

The Max normal oil consumption is 1L oil of 1000km. Over this you can say it is a problem with the Engine. and you become a new Engine.

Me i do really like Motul oils and my cars for the last 15 years work only on it. I don't wanna hear anything related to Castrol or Mobil1 oils made "on a boat" and sold as genuine.

VAG recommended Castrol last and previous year when genuine oil was castrol, Now recommend Shell because this year Shell is genuine oil

I will tell you what they have told me so far in case it happens to another user (I deduce that my case is isolated otherwise there would be more posts about my case).
In the Audi workshop they told me if I make short trips and my answer: I don't make very long trips and I make trips around the city, to the next town, what do you mean by short trips?
The answer is that if I make short trips, the car regenerates the particulate filter and this causes oil to be consumed.
In any case, with what they told me, I told them that I do not agree (perhaps they are right, but what happens to my car is not normal)
The thing is that I know owners with the same car and they do more or less the same trips and they have never added oil, so they will test the oil.

In any case, thinking about it, I don't know if oil consumption has anything to do with driving in Efficiency mode since it makes the car go at lower revolutions and makes the car consume more oil.

If someone can suggest what I can tell the dealer, I would appreciate it because they will test the oil and tell me that the car is fine and it will be time to shut up.

That is wrong, because:
Cars with a diesel engine and DPF (diesel particulate filter) that are mainly operated on short journeys can have an increased oil level - i.e. an apparent increase in oil. The cause is diesel in the engine oil. The use of biodiesel exacerbates the problem.
That is not your problem
Normal is often considered to be up to 0.5l per 1000km.
