Bought a Keyreader Plus Desktop from dealer.  It looks a bit like an ashtray - blue around the edges, 2 LED on the front and a black flat mat to put the key on.

Problem is when I look in AOS (KaSIO), the drivers are possibly for the earlier Keyreader Plus (not desktop) -- the black flat reader.

Anyone had any experience of installing Keyreader Plus Dekstop??

Already done that.  They don't know anything about the product or configuring it.
I'd raise a ticket on AOS but looks like either technical gremlins at their end or incorrect configuration of our account means we get a 500 error when trying to raise a ticket!!!  Been one of those days, thus the post on here.

Have you tried the same driver as for older Key reader plus? It could be just design change.

I tried the driver for the Keyreader Plus driver which did not work.  After installing the driver I tried 192.168.17.17 as per instructions to configure the device via the browser, but got a page not found error.  Tried pinging it - same.  Turned all firewalls off temporarily and this made no difference either.

Dealer says this keyreader is now the only one available -- I will try it on a different machine later tonight but properly frustrating day.  And the documentation on AOS (KaSIO) is dated 2019!

If you're referring to the Windows services - they are for the KAI software, not the keyreader plus drivers.   Not got that far yet lol!

I will raise an issue with KaSIO team and report back unless somebody else chimes in.  Problem is whatever they have done to my account, means I cannot raise a ticket whilst logged in.  Proper mess at the moment!

Depending on your other network settings you may have an IP range overlap resulting in this not being accessible. You need to post much more info on your computer's setup for us to help you.

Start from looking into device manager. As this is an USB device it should appear in there. If drivers are ok then it will be shown without any exclamation marks. If drivers are not working, it will either be unknown device or with an exclamation mark.
