N42 rattles after 3000rpm
Hi,
Working on e46 with N42 engine. When I disconnect ex. camshaft sensor and start car and rev to aboute 3000rpm everything seems to be OK. After hitting 3000rpm its start rattles and in most cases die while rev down. When i connect ex. cam sensor car start ok but after a while it start shake and sometimes die. Only fault that is logged is aboute ex. cam. sensor signal What I have done yet: - replaced valvetronic module becouse was fired - learn vvt limit pos and clear adaptation - check complete wiring on engine bay (becouse of fired vvt ecu, find one sensor makeing short circuit). All wires are ok - move cam sensor from in and ex camshaft - check sensor with metal - voltage drop from 12v to 0v - timming - unplug both vanos sensor, both cam sensor, vvt motor but rattles after 3000rpm remain Anybody have any other idea what I can check? If I helped, please magic buttons thx+rep

RE: N42 rattles after 3000rpm
you'll need a scope to see what's going on with cam, crank and timing
do you get any DTCs? |

Strange is that, car start rattles even when i dosconnect all sensors...so its something mehanicaly, not electric If I helped, please magic buttons thx+rep

Can somebody help me analysis this data? 01 - recorded crankshaft signal. Camshaft sensor disconnected. Car running OK. I thing something wrong here becouse it should generate different signal wave. It is hall sensor but generate signal like inductive sensor. Or I am wrong? 02 - recorded crank and ex. cam signal data. Both sensor connected. Car running not OK 03 - recorded ex. cam sensor only while engine running not OK 04 - recorded ex. cam sensor only while engine running OK On 01, 03 and 04 there is also additional refferenced wave. Signal from in and ex cam sensor looks same. Dont have much exp. using scope so sorry if I collect this data wrong way. Are this data can tell anything or not? thank you very much for help |
