I wanted to see if anyone else has dabbled with this or has some thoughts. I live somewhere where you can't pay for google earth on the MIB2 system.  Specifically an audi a4 b9 2017. 

You can however code the feature in.  I have already also don't the FEC crack, but that is unrelated.  

My goal is to work on writing a server interface that translates the inbound queries to audi connect and responds with what the car wants to see.   I have reverse engineered a mobile app API before to integrate with home assistant so once I get access to the data I think I could make it happen.   

Hope is to get google imaging working on a new MMI version (here maps).  Potentially adding traffic and other features too.  This would be done by hosting a server that responds to the car. 

Now key points I anticipate for this. 

1. Will only work if I use my phone for internet. Not with the esim, I suspect the esim will have a specific APN. Can figure this out later.  As such I need to use my phones data plan to start by coding it in.  That is the easy part.
2.  Need to redirect the traffic.  This is easy with a DNS injection when running through my laptop to start.  If I get the rest working would need to find a way to add a host file to the MMI. I think I ran into this awhile back so not too worried on that either. 
3. Need to hijack the SSL traffic.  This is where I need help.  I need to figure out how to install a root trusted certificate into the MIB system.   Any thoughts on this?

Once I get a cert install I plan to use charles to watch the API calls. I won't get a response since I don't have a valid license but if I get this far I could find someone paying to sniff and provide the file.   It would also let me understand protocol and build a framework. 

Any thoughts on injecting a trusted root cert?

Sorry this isn't clear with the grammer.  Are you saying I can do the work of figuring out the cert side?  Yes will happily post back if I figure it out.

I have seen that you talk about the FEC crack, but in the search engine I have not seen anything, could you tell me where I can read about it?
