Hi friends 


I had a display problem on MMI 3G High (basic US version) after installing the EU version (HNaV-EU-K0257-5-D1) Thanks to "audia4" I could understand that there was an internal memory in MMI for the version between US and EU.


I recovered the display of fonts by installing the US version (HNav_US_K0133_3_D1) but i no longer browse. 


My question is: 


Would it be possible to install a MAPS Europe with the US firmware ?

Thank you for the answer, i tried with VCP to read the eeprom but i was not successful, however i followed the instructions well, i wanted to avoid opening the MMI because the eeprom chip is a mini eeprom, I wouldn't want to ruin it by heating it... 

So i understand that it's impossible to use Navi EU with US firmware bad luck for me,

Hi audia4 I'm sorry but I use my smartphone to write and I can't tell if the fonts are large, I don't enjoy writing in large letters and I don't like it myself, thank you.

I followed the video to try with VCP, it enters the 5F module with no problem, can read and clear faults but cannot go to "Engineer Mode" I have an error of switch not accepted. Yet I do everything as described.

So I continue and go to "secure access" I put engineer mode back, choose the right code but each time I have a reading error, like on the video. 

On some Russian sites some use the VCP and it works well but the vehicles are A6, mine is an S4 B8 maybe a security that prevents reading or my cable is bad ? 

I'm going to redo all the soldering and try again, otherwise I'll try with ODIS-E if that doesn't work I'll bond the mini eeprom by heating it to 300°C and praying that it doesn't melt during desoldering

It cant be this hard ...only some informations missing on this thread.

So you have  2. options

Make Update with Green Menu SWDL, ignore Region and Variant to EU K257_x Software. 

After Update there is no Text, because of missing language - then: 

1. Option -> with genuine VCP or maybe clone > filemanagement, search for ZDC for the 5F (e.g. you normaly can use "A4_MMI3G_Standard.zdc" when only mark language EU also when it is like Q5 or A6 Car) -> Guided Functions -> Apps > Dataset Uploader (ZDC Uploader) > Mark 5F > Load File > Mark

• Data_VisibleLanguages_EU
  
• Data_Language_xxXX(which ist your spoken language, eg. frFR or nlNl or deDE)
  
• Data_CountrySettings_yourcountry (e.g FR,DE,ES - only one of your Country)
  
• Data_UnitsRDW 
  

then press > Write

2. Option > Can end up with an static error in ECU that EEProm Checksum is missmatching

1. Open VCP
2. Open ECU 5F
3. Security Access
4. Login 21055
5. Switch Session to Engineer Mode
6. Up/Download
7. Login 21055
8. Start Adress 4096
9. Length 8192
10. Session in Up/Downloader has to be also in Engineer Mode
10. Read EEProm
11. Save EEProm to File
12. Edit EEprom saved File with a good Hex Editor like HxD
13. Look on posted File for Link, where EEProm is explained, what to change
14. After Edit save file in EEProm Editor like HxD and open saved File in Up/Downloader VCP - recheck it, that everything is on right position (also start address 4096, length 8192) and Write to Unit.

Be careful on Hex Editor, that you overwrite the values and dont insert extra values, because when this happens, unit can hardly be damaged.

Now you should have text.

now enable and go into green menu, check that nav database coding is set to europe and under nav you can format nav database
then put in actual EU Nav Database and try with SWDL user definied mode to install nav database, check if everything is marked from the system what is markable, when it dont work, mark it yourself.

after 3 hours installing make directly at last screen where it says back documentation -> Open 5F with VCP -> Adaptions -> Channel 15 (read value) > open windows calculator > switch to Programmer mode > write value from channel 15 > press XOR > write 51666 and press "=" - the numberic value you will get, put in Channel 15 and write to ecu, at this moment unit should tell you, that back documentation worked and it is restarting from itself.

after some minutes, you will get error that nav database is locked, then install activator which came with maps.

I prepared : changed eeprom,…but i dont know where i download last fw and maps…
