Yeah. I know only of the standalone version. After copying the folders you change the registry files and apply it.

I'm thinking about using mklink to create BMW folder in C:/Programfiles and c:/programdata with a link to the external ssd and letting ISTA launcher install it. Do you think that will work?

The mklink should be after installing ISTA. You could install ista using the launcher then move the ISTA folder to ssd then create mklink.
