Determining the ICOM I have
Is there a way to determine which ICOM I have as I want to make sure I try and put the correct firmware on it. Maybe some versions can only go to a specific FW.
Thanks |

RE: Determining the ICOM I have
Well a picture might help (outside and in).
But generally there are several types of icom OEM 1: Icon Next 2: Icom A1 3: Icom A2 These are the ones that are mostly out there. Clones 1: Icon Next, Looks like an icom next but is icom a1 inside or worse still the vx firmware platform 2: Icom A2, Looks like an icom a2 but is icom a1 inside Problems with the A1 clone are, half the memory and thinks it has a fan, rubbish components, poor build quality, most have no wifi, most are crap. Pretty much all of them use the oem icom firmware (not all though). OEM Icom Next use different firmware that the A1/A2 (oem and clone). Best way to check is the firmware update http page (of the icom), that will tell you what it thinks it is. |

RE: Determining the ICOM I have
Are we speaking about Icom A2? I have seen about 3 different type of clones. I tried to upgrade all 3 versions, but only one worked. the other two simply stayed on the old version after the update and could continue to be used normally.
