GDS2 Setup
I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to purchase. I currently work at a body shop and we work on late model GM Trucks and cars quite frequently. We currently use the latest Snap On Diagnostic Scanner for everything but I would like to purchase a GM interface for the occasional Airbag module reprogramming etc. The main vehicles we occasionally run into issues with are current year.
So I'm just curious-am I able to get a "released" version of the GDS2 software without paying a license fee? It is my understanding that I will have to pay for the programming through the ACDelco website each time it's needed, but I was curious about the availability of the diagnostic software. Besides the software question, I'm also curious about what interface would be best to purchase? I have a higher end laptop that I would be using to run the software. Thanks for your time! |

RE: GDS2 Setup
if you are working with cars from 2021 year, then you need interface which supports FD-CAN protocol like original MDI2.
if the cars before 2021 year manufacturing, then you need just good J2534 interface like Chipsoft J2534 Pro / Mid, Scanmatic 2 Pro, Autel VCI, MDI clone/original, VCM2 clone/original or any other. Ford / Linkoln / Mazda PATS remote module and keys programming service

RE: GDS2 Setup
You can try your local GM dealer.
I ordered mine in September and it is very possible I will get it in march of 2023. |
