A friend of me bought a demolition car ford scorpio v6 2.9 1995 with a good engine.  He wants to put this is his replica ac cobra that he's building.  During the winter the batterij of the scorpio went flat a now the car won't start.  He contacted a ford garage and they told him he had to take the red key ?? so all will be activated again.  But he hasn't got the mentioned red key.
Is there someone here who knows he can get the engine back running.  And take the restrictions of.
Hope someone can help.

get openport j2534 (cheap clone will do) and forscan software (here) and scan the car, providing it has 16pin obd port

which you prefere, i find a lot but are 32 bit and not specified they can read or connect ford.

What do i have to look for when i read out the car.  To i need extended license ?  I'm willing to buy this on the site of forscan if necessary.

you can get free trial of forscan extended license by registering on their site and submitting request. This is good enough for a single time like this if you need it!

Today put the scorpio on two computers. One with forscan, the other one a thinkcar diagnostic tool.  Both of them gave the error "check if your ignition is on" which was.  All the lights on the instrument panel lighted up.  The red led on top of the dash doesn't light up. Which it did in the past before cutting of the battery for a long time. My friend has only one black key.  Now he's going to a keystore to check if the transponder in the key is still alive, maybe thats the cause of all the trouble ?
Someone an idea if the fault comes from the transponder in the key or the receiver.  I'm sure the obd port is ok because the wireless plugin tool from the thinkscan lights up.
All suggestions are welcome.  The scorpio is a stationwagon v6 2.9 automatic from 1994 with only 69000 km on it.
