Hi all!

I`m getting random power steering issues in my wife's Megane II (2006). At first, the issues was random and dissapears after vehicle restart, some time at day, but one day the issue remains and vehicle shows "Power steering problem" "Stop", and power steerring doesn't work.
After CLIP diagnose the faults stored was DF002 (computer) and DF054 (torque sensor). I deleted the faults and changed the vehicle battery, just in case. Now the fault appears much less frequently and, for now, after restarting the car it disappears, but I'm affraid that sooner or later the fault will be permanent.

Any advice to avoid it or will it be necessary to change/repair the power steering?

These vehicles are somewhat cheap now as so are the parts from the breakers .
common fault is the UPC that gets water damaged ..this can cause havoc .
But anyway i had a problem on one Megane 2 with power steering issues , I replaced with same part number from the scrapyard which i think at that time was the easiest to do ..

I had thought about that, but I've read somewhere that used power steerings cannot be installed in other vehicles due to problems with the vin recorded in the ecu, which does not match the vehicle's one...
