E70 Battery type change coding with ISTA-P.
Hello all,
Mine E70 2009 X5 35D came with 90 AH wet lead acid battery but I just bought genuine BMW 92AH AGM battery. So after searching, I found that ISTA-D can't change the type and I would need ISTA-P. So could anyone provide me steps in ISTA-P to perform this task of coding the new AGM battery? I have ICOM with MOST adaptor. Thanks. |

RE: E70 Battery type change coding with ISTA-P.
When coding battery to agm with Ista-P you must calculate measure plan and if needed do a software update and do retrofit coding for battery. You can do it with NCS expert when changing VO and coding CAS. After that must run service function for battery replacement in Ista+.
Good luck! |

RE: E70 Battery type change coding with ISTA-P.
Thanks guys. Yes I have done some coding using NCS expert years ago on my X5 when I bought it years ago like digital speed etc.Now I totally forgot but I do have NCS expert setup. I read that even with NCS, coding battery
with changing VO is the preferred way. Any step by step instructions for doing it by changing VO on NCS? After coding , I can then register my new AGM with ISTA-D. |

I read that even with NCS, coding battery Hi, I have been coding previously (E61, E90) new battery with following instructions: VO-codes for batteries E B046 BATT_46AH //46 Ah-Batterie E B055 BATT_55AH //55 Ah-Batterie E B070 BATT_70AH //70 Ah-Batterie E B080 BATT_80AH //80 Ah-Batterie E B090 BATT_90AH //90 Ah-Batterie E A070 BATT_AGM_70AH //70 Ah-AGM Batterie E A080 BATT_AGM_80AH //80 Ah-AGM Batterie E A090 BATT_AGM_90AH //90 Ah-AGM Batterie Note that XXXX is the possible options in your vehicle order (VO) from above. You are removing the old one in step 9 and adding the new one in step 10. a) change VO code 1. Open NCSEXPERT 2. File > Load profile > Select Expertmode > Click OK 3. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA) 4. A window labeled “Enter VIN” appears with your vehicles VIN number filled in > Click OK 9. A window labeled Enter FA appears > scroll to find VO for old battery (-XXXX) > highlight –XXXX and press delete on keyboard 10. Enter –XXXX is “Attribute” box > Click Add > Click OK 11. Press F6 (Back) 12. Press F4 (Process ECU) > Select CAS > Click OK 13. Press F2 (Change Job) > Select FA_Write > Click OK 14. Press F3 (Execute Job) 15. Verify that the write is complete “Job Ended” 16. Press F1 (Change ECU) > Select FRM > Click OK 17. Verify lines : get coded, FRM, JOBNAME = FA_Write 18. Press F3 (Execute Job) 19. Verify that the write is complete “Job Ended” 20. Press F6 (Back) > Exit NCSEXPERT b. Code the new VO list to the CAS: 1. Open NCSEXPERT 2. File > Load profile > Select Expertmode > Click OK 3. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA) 4. Press F3 (CS/FA f. EC) > Select E89 > Click OK > Select CAS > Click OK 5. Press F6 (Back) 6. Press F4 (Process ECU) > Select CAS > Click OK (Be sure that FSW_PSW.MAN is empty) 7. Press F2 (Change job) > SG_CODIEREN > Click OK 8. Press F3 (Execute job) > Job ended If you wish (instead of coding just CAS) you can code the whole car (i did not bother since new battery should not have effect to other modules) 6. Press F3 (Process Car) 7. Press F1 (Code Car) cheers, |
