RE: BMW E93 335i N55 blown motor rebuild progress thread.
I've actually gotten a little sidetracked on the removal portion.  I have pretty much everything from the top along with the axles removed and then went down the path of building a cheap lift table to drop it out of the bottom (I attached a photo).  I have the driveshaft and exhaust left and then I get to try out my lift table and hope I don't drop it all over the place, lol.

I'd be interested to hear about any tricks or things you ran into while doing the rebuild.  This will be my first BMW engine rebuild so I'm sure it's quite detailed.  Sorry if I'm sidetracking your thread.

No worries, im glad youre responding to the thread!

My only tip for now is, make sure you order everything ahead. If i had ordered everything at once instead of starting the rebuild and ordering a part everytime i needed one, i wouldve been done by now. Also, try to do as much via BMW OEM specs.
Removing the axles and doing all the other side stuff is more work the lifting the engine, youre almost there.

RE: BMW E93 335i N55 blown motor rebuild progress thread.
I FINALLY got it out, my little homemade lift table worked perfectly!  Got the engine and transmission separated last night.  Got the engine on the stand and had to call it a night.  Have to get the pan off tonight to see how bad it is.

My concern is getting all the parts I need for the rebuild.  I've seen that some people are selling "rebuild kits" with all the gaskets/seals and they say the parts are OEM but the price they are asking I'm a little skeptical.  If I look up the included part numbers they have in their listings, the price is much more from BMW online suppliers.  Did you order a "rebuild kit" or just makes notes of what you needed during disassembly?

Got the pan removed tonight, number 2 is spun.  Don't know if the crank is going to be able to be saved though, it's in pretty bad shape sad.

take it to a machine shop and have them check it, you can even take your block and bearings and have them assemble the crank to make sure the clearances are within spec! or you could use plastigage but if their prices are reasonable id let them handle it.

i've rebuilt a few N20s and assembled them myself with no issues, but the damage on those engines also wasn't as bad as the one posted here lol

best of luck and looking forward to the progress
