XZBMW  2011 F11 535d JBBF coding fails
Hi everyone,

A while back I helped a friend with his car with some electrical issues related to his blower fan and junction box behind the glove box.

Non removal fuse 40A behind glove box was burnt and fan was no good. He fixed the fuse that had melted and replaced the blower fan. Fan works again, but new issue appears out of nowhere now.

Car drains battery very fast and he heard a humming noise coming from engine compartment. Located it to the EPS. When he pulls the connector (feeder cable) to the EPS under the car noise stops.

He ordered a used JBE from junkyard also known as JBBF in esys. I tried coding it for him remotely, but we keep getting an error after trying to code the JBBF. "File for cafd...not found! [C012]."

I used esys 3.30.1 with psdzdata 4.32.15 and 4.37.40 with same error.

See attached images for error messages and status of modules in esys.

Anyone know what we are doing wrong? My next step was to flash his JBBF with 4.32.15 and whatever modules need updating and then try again to see if it accepts the VO coding.

I even tried VO coding other modules with same error message.

Thanks for the help!

The file for that CAFD is definitely in psdzdata. Is your psdzdata installed correctly??? You may also try to inject cafd, as it seems to be missing from the module.

Yes, I even downloaded BLP 4.37.40 via teamviewer onto his laptop as he was connected to the car and made sure I extracted it to C:/Data/ as I have it on my own laptop with successful coding and flashing of modules. Esys is installed in default directory and points to C:/data folder for psdzdata folder.

When I marked JBBF module in esys coding and clicked on detect cafd from swe I get very old cafd's to choose from, I think they said something like F10-11-03-501 and so on. Didn't even match his i-level shipment or current. In the end I get the error message attached in the picture.

You have generated a svt_soll. Use this svt and make a tal for flashing the JBBF and inject cafd.

Yes, I created a SVT soll just to see what modules needed updating and what the state of the JBBF would be.

We didnt have time to flash the JBBF since the SDP file took so long to extract and he had to attend family things for christmas eve and so on. (Next step is flash JBBF and inject cafd).

However, it is strange that VO coding for example the EGS gave the same error even though EGS module has no errors or updates and is working fine...

His car has the dynamic dampers option from factory that are unplugged and "disabled", I am starting to wonder if that has anything to do with the battery draining since the ICM module is red in esys.

You can copy the needed .swfl, .bsw, .xml from your pc to the partner pc. This are kb and need seconds.

I think you have no idea how things work AT ALL. You CAN'T inject any CAFD to any SWFL. Each SWFL supports certain CAFDs (ok, to be more precise each CAFD supports certain SWFLs). The SWFL which is currently on that unit was used in 11-03-510 to 11-07-501 ONLY. So OF COURSE you got "very old cafd's to choose from". If you want new CAFDs FLASH the unit to newer software!!!

I also HAVE NO IDEA what "I even downloaded BLP 4.37.40 ... and made sure I extracted it" MEANS. Did you download PREINSTALLED BLP or istapackage??? And what did you use to extract it IF it was istapackage.

Thanks for the tip! Didn't think to try that.

RE: 2011 F11 535d JBBF coding fails
You need to solve your OWN mess first. There is NO reason for you to get that cafd message, because file SHOULD be there is psdzdata is installed properly and there is NO reason it should fail to code, because the firmware on that unit is correct for factory iLevel of that car as displayed on your screenshot.

If current car level is not compatible with that old firmware there COULD be fault entries in OPERATION, not during coding!!!

You can verify file is there manually. There should be file called cafd_00000014.caf.004_035_017 in C:\Data\Psdzdata\swe\cafd folder.

P.S. Being DYI'er is NOT the reason to not use your brain thing.
