Hi guys,

I have a 2018 Audi Q7 TDI that has a MHI2Q based MMI.

I recently bought a 2017 Audi SQ7 that has a MHI2 based MMI.

From what I have found out the MHI2 comes from Audi A6/A7 and was used on early Q7 and SQ7? But both systems are
MIB2 based?

My fist question are: Can I take out the MHI2Q out from the Q7 and put it in the SQ7 and vica versa?

My second question is regarding updating the firmware of the MIH2 on my 2017 SQ7.

I downloaded a firmware but i know from past mistakes that you should not update BOSE components.
My problem is that user defined are grayed out so there is no way I can disable BOSE update.

My current MMI firmware version is:
MHI2_ ER_ AUG22_P3241
MU software 0678

The version im trying to upgrade to is
MHI2_ER_AUG22, K3346

Would appreciate some help

MHI2 is made by NVIDIA and MHI2Q is made by Qualcomm. They are both MIB2 based units.
I would firstly like to know why you want to swap units ? is there a logical reason behind it ? Also BOSE or B&O should not be updated unless you have VCP Pro.

Thank you for clearing that up mate, I wont attempt to swap units then,

Any tips on how I can update firmware without updating BOSE?
Normally in red menu you can choose user defined and choose N on BOSE.

But on the firmware I downloaded User defined is grayed out and if I try to use standard option Bose is set to S

You need to have VCP , VCDS , OBD11 or something similar to enable green menu so you can enable User-Defined SWDL.

Both modules are made by Harman.
The VCM module is that is diferent - the HMI part.

HMI is related to Audi connect?

Thanks for info, I enabled user defined SWDL and updated the system to latest software (without the bose)

I have no issues, I just thought MHI2Q was better than MHI2.

I dont see any difference between them
