I don't get it why there is so much speculation and guesswork Initialization is not for ignition key, but for remote locking/unlocking feature. Ignition transponder is a different set of hardware in the key altogether and is independent from remote functions. |

CAS keys have one chip that does both and is synchronized as soon as you start the car. |

RE: Trouble with key remote on E87
Thanks guys,
Yes I have a working key, so as you say one key remote is faulty and need replacement. It is clear. I talked with other people who as the same trouble, all methode you posted here to make an initialisation dosen't work. It look like the key is hard coded and work or not without the need to do something. I saw my BMW dealer, the key cost 200€, for now I wait. I don't know someone that can make me a new one cheaper. As commented by other users, this might not be a possibility for CAS keys, but only for EWS keys. You can still try the remote initialization procedure, but it might not yield any results if CAS keys do not support this functionality. I can't say for sure as I have never had a need to initialize remote functions of CAS key. Have you driven the car with the key that doesn't work for remote functions? Maybe the battery is just empty and needs to be charged via ignition socket. |

When you were talking about tools, I thought you knew the tools and software needed to redo a key on this model. Sorry I misunderstood. Finally I have insurance that supports the new key! The bmw seller told me there was a long wait but I still have a working key so everything is fine. 266€ for the key. |
