I have few questions around NBT EVO units hadling:


0. EVO ASIA->ECE : is it necessary to clear V850 or simply modify VO,flash and apply feature installer ?

1. HDD Clone: Which program I can use to clone original NBT HDD ?

2. NBT ID4: is process of setting up new HDD same as for ID5/6 or one like for NBT ID3 ?

3. Max drive capacity for SSD replacement in EVO units ?

QNX formatting the right disk with right SMART attributes. usually Toshiba HDD

2. NBT ID4: is process of setting up new HDD same as for ID5/6 or one like for NBT ID3 ?

240 is ok, 1 TB i have seen too

i had a defect toshiba hdd 240gb and replaced it with samsung 500 gb ssd
someone used qnx linux for this

In Evo it isn't of much use to clone it and except for ID4 won't even work. You can just drop in a new HDD and activate SSH to initialise it & flash IBAD's & install new map.

On NBT if the new hdd is not initialised USB won't work so you cannot activate ssh or initialise it directly with a USB patch. That's why cloning a disk is the best option.
But the disk you make the copy from needed to be unlocked first before you can get any data from it.

0. Yes, needs VO unlock too

1. I use linux command line to make an image from it and compress it. When restoring I decompress it to the new disk and that's it.

2. Initialising the HDD is exactly the same on ID4 as it is for ID5/6

3. Not sure if there is a max on drive capacity but if you initialise the HDD using create_hdd.sh it will just partition up to the 200gb mark and the rest of the drive capacity will be unused blank space. If you do want to use all the available space on the drive you need to manually partition it using fdisk, then you can use create_hdd.sh to format the partitions and create domain directories.
IMHO using a larger capacity drive is pretty useless unless you got an insane music collection to story on the HDD.

It is always better to initialise a new disk than to clone it mate! more problems come up sooner or later when you clone it, that is why I passed this question to the author of the post, why does he want to clone?

Anyway NBT doesn't work with ssd drives, not like NBTevo and they can accept a large sized SSD but only for multimedia but still it's pointless because nobody now downloads music and copies to usb and finally to the music collection in nbt/nbt2, so a ssd 250GB drive is sufficient for nbt2.
