N47 exhaust gas temp sensor before dpf -40
Hi,

e81 118d 2009 n47.
No fault present but in live data I see exhaust gas temp sensor before dpf -40.
I see that before in others n47s.
Anybody know if this is normal?
Car have fresh dpf cleaned and I dont want to block it in near future.

Thank you

RE: N47 exhaust gas temp sensor before dpf -40
Hello.
1. The temperature sensor in front of the particulate filter cannot have negative values.
Otherwise, the regeneration of the particulate filter will not work.
Either the sensor is faulty, or the wiring to the sensor.
2. In your case, there is one temperature sensor in front of the catalyst.
It works right for you!
You do not have a temperature sensor in front of the particulate filter,
so ISTA shows a negative value.

You have only three sensors and they are all in front of the catalyst.

1.Exhaust gas backpressure sensor to determine the filter load in driving mode.
2. Lambda probe in front of the oxidation catalyst to measure the excess air ratio.
3.Temperature sensor in front of the catalyst.

The following levels of integration are required:

325d: E89x-09-12-512 or higher
525d: E89x-09-12-512 or higher

Hi,
Thank you for explenation.
But in first point you write this temp. is needed for regeneration but in second, as i understand, in my case is everything ok and regeneration will be done. Can you explain this? Maybe I wrong understand you? In short...in my example i have problem with dpf or not?

All is well in your case! everything works!!!

The first point is not for you. This is just an explanation.

There are different types of engines.
There is an EU 3 exhaust aftertreatment system (S169A),
there is EU 4; EU5; EU6.
In each of these cases, there are a different number of sensors and are placed in different places.

RE: N47 exhaust gas temp sensor before dpf -40
A few days ago I saw in E84 with N47 same value for temperature sensor. But all is ok. ISTA-D show temperature for sensor that not exist on this engine. I opened INPA to check and in INPA al is ok. Old Software but very usefull.
