I promised I searched here and many other places and maybe I'm just not that good with search. How do you update the ISTA application if you have the msi? I have installed and reinstalled ISTA before using the ISTA GUI launcher 1.39.0.1321. But when I click "Check for software updates", it does not find the new app to install. I have tried placing the BMW_ISPI-ISTA-APP_4.39.31.24485.msi in various folder such as c:\sharedstorage, c:\sharedstorage\downloads, c:\sharedstorage\temp. Everything licensed and ISTA runs normally, just won't upgrade the app. Can someone post a guide, link or even detailed steps please?

You need upgraded admin client offline license for newer version.

I got it worked out. I needed later admin client plus license that worked with the newer client. The procedure to upgrade was to have not only the app version I wanted installed (msi) but also any supporting istapackage files and xml files. Seemed to work just like a new install. I guess the admin client version explains why it only detected up to version 4.39.20 previously even though I had all of the 4.39.25 and 4.39.30 files in the same folder (root of c:\sharedstorage).

4.39.3X DELTA came out on this forum, so I'm using ISPI Admin Client (22 2.700.312) and clicking "Update List",
"There are currently no outstanding download" is displayed and the download is not possible.
How can I update to 4.39.3X?

You don't actually run the update from the admin client itself. Launch the BMW ISPI ISTA Launcher and then click "Check for software updates". If you have the new app msi plus all required update files (msi, xml, istapackage) in c:\sharedstorage folder, it will detect an upgrade is available and ask if you want to install. If you don't have all of the necessary files, it will error and tell you which ones you need to add to the folder first.

If the above doesn't work, you can install the new admin client found on this forum but be aware it will likely invalidate your license so you'll need to get an updated license from your supplier.

To download data to the shadow storage folder
ISTA Admin Client, right?
I didn't know how to download from the server.

Just download the 4.39.3X DELTA files from Mega or wherever to the folder as indicated above and ISTA launcher should pick them up and will copy them where it needs to on installation. I do not use ISTA admin to download files. Just make sure the files are in the root of c:\sharedstorage folder and not in some sub folder.

If you’re using off-line license. The ISTA Admin Client must have the packages licensed.
You can’t use ISTA Launcher to install, if your license not included newer ISTA packages.
