Hi all,

I have a BMW M2C 2020. Due to having a locked DME, I enlisted the help of a tuning friend who swapped it with a 2015 DME, which didn't work properly, then a 2019 DME - that worked (transferred the necessary info from the FEM module).

Upon initially transferring the DME across to the 2015 DME, it appeared to show the service history of the previous car. Later, when moving to the 2019 DME, it immediately showed my original service history.

Question - what module is the service history stored on? DME? FEM? Something else?

The reason I ask is because I am wondering if I take my BMW in for a service and they update the service history and then in a few years time I sell my car and swap in the original DME again, will I lose that service history (because it's stored on the other DME)?

the service is stored on BMW Server.
Everytime you goes to the service it will be overwritten in your head unit.

for example you delete some services or change the service history . after service by the dealer it will all overwritten with the stored data from the BMW Server

Thanks. By that I am guessing the DME is irrelevant to the equation then? I am wondering why the service history was pulled from the 2019 DME swap... perhaps the coder accidentally copied across some info to the FEM module?

Either way, it sounds like I can swap the OEM DME back in if I come to sell the car and it shouldn't affect the service history?
