LCI steering wheel buttons in not LCI
Hi,
we have a G31 from 2017, ID6 without facelift and would have now installed the buttons from the facelift. It all works so far, all buttons work, but if you press one of the left buttons, the vehicle gives error messages. Can something be done about it? Coding? Rebuild? |

RE: LCI steering wheel buttons in not LCI
Yes the car itself has all systems, if you press with the keys from the LCI then one of the keys, the error message comes.
Currently unfortunately no chance? |

RE: LCI steering wheel buttons in not LCI
It depends on the steering wheel control set you got.
They did have pre-LCI ID7 steering wheel controls only for one model year (2020 Model year, 2019 production.) So if you get the same spec controls with 5AT from a pre-LCI vehicle, there shouldn't be any controls that don't work on ID6. So if you got ID7 steering wheel controls that were equipped with 5AU, those are incompatible with ID6 5AT vehicles due to the controls being different. |

Okay so my vehicle itself would be 10/2018 - I would then also have error messages when I install the "Pre-LCI steering wheel" or? I just saw that there is a 3rd steering wheel which is similar to the LCI, but was probably already installed before the LCI came out - this would not work for me then or? According to the VIN I would have the 5AT equipment - ID6. |

RE: LCI steering wheel buttons in not LCI
The Pre-LCI wheel with the new controls have to be also from a 5AT spec.
Therefore that would mean the distance control is just a single button on the bottom right of the left controls, instead of an increase and decrease in the middle. This also means there is the vibration motor from my understanding, since they changed it for LCI with 5AU where the vibration comes from the EPS instead. Alternatively if it came with the M Sport steering wheel already, you only require PN 8053151 (US) or PN 8053152 (ECE) for just replacing the controls which keep the same layout as ID6 but is compatible. |
