This will be my first time updating a unit like this. Please give me a short tutorial on how to do it correctly.

I have the HN+_EU_AU3G_P0782 software version and 6.19.3 maps. Should I understand that I first need to upgrade to the latest version, but the available version is HN+_EU_AU3G_K0942_3_(A4-A5-Q5-Q7) - it differs by a letter - what are the differences between the "P" and "K" software?

Do I need to use an activator after updating? If so, how. I don't want to damage anything.

You probably have one of these audi(A4-A5-Q5-Q7)
if so then update K0942_3 via User Defined and skip BOSE or another external Amp(the letter "P" or "K" doesn't matter) then update new map's and finally activate it.
if you follow the instructions, you won't spoil anything

Bose not exist in A4, A5, Q5, Q7, there is only Bang&Olufsen

P=Shipped with car /  K=Installed by Update

A4 / A5 /Q5 :

-Basic system with 6 speakers

-Audi sound system 6-channel amplifier, ten speakers including center speaker in the dashboard and subwoofer in the spare wheel well , total output 180 watts

Thank you for the tip auto to s5 without bose. I also found the instructions and I follow them. The software is already updated, the map partition is cleared. I have a question about the activator, how do I activate the maps in HN + no metainfo or is this the method through the green menu. Should I change the files that are in the downloaded activator for HN + through Xcode?
Activator I have files :
run.sh , 0004000B.fsc , copie_scr.sh and two  catalogues - utils and screens

After a successful sw update, enter the map update and finally activate the maps.
The activator is a script, there is no metainfo.
Give the contact(ignition ON) and wait about 2 minutes for the complete system to start.
"do not touch or change anything inside the activator"
Just insert the contents of the script into the root of a fat32 formatted sd and wait a bit for the instructions to appear on the screen and then do the following
