Hallo all, 
i have one question - a friend of mine updated his car MOTION from version??? to 2023-1. 

The car shows the old version number 401153213.2.10 - picture below

After the update to 2023-1 the car shows the new version number 401221211.2.10 (2023-1) but not the year 2023. 

He already let the car fall asleep and drove 5km - but it stoll does not show the year of the car.

I never recogniced this issue on a car before - i've never seen this issue. 

Is there a trick or an other way to check the version?

i think it does show the year, but its cut off because the screen is too small.

If you need to check the version, scan with ISTA it will show what map version is installed or use BMW key reader with AOS

In E91 with Motion i have seen the version.

Me too - always - but it was so even with the old version - you can only see the number, but not the date... that is strange... never had this before.

The Update to 2023-1 worked without any issues - and when you plug in the stick again, car says that there is no newer version on the stick as it ist installed on the car --> 2023-1 proper installed.

I tell him to drive a bit and then check it again, probably it needs a bit to show it correctly.

IMHO reason is simple. When it was made there was a single map, no east/west. So year did fit into that line. When east/west were separated, it no longer fits.

P.S. Maybe some firmware update solves that, IDK...

Car has the first I-Level installed - E89X-10-09-511 - that can be the problem.

If he would make an I-Level Update, this would solve the problem but i told him not to do it - because this will not bring any adorable advantages - the car works good and he should not risk to brick the FRM.

The car actually shows:

BMW Group
401221211.2.10
Road Map Europe West MOTIO...

Everything okay, 2023-1 is installed - i would no longer worry about that if i was him.
