I was looking at few guides in ISTA and found interesting codes
I thought of sharing it for those of you who is dealing with permanent codes(from 2009 to 202x)

Permanent SAE fault codes can be saved in emission-relevant control units. This occurs when a diagnostic function in the control unit has detected an emission-relevant fault and confirmed this fault. The fault must have been detected in two consecutive driving cycles.

Permanent SAE fault codes cannot be removed from the fault memory by deleting the fault memory. Instead, the diagnostic function must be run through in the control unit and the original emission-relevant fault must no longer be detected. This process is also referred to below as "healing permanent SAE fault codes" and is described in detail.

How is ISTA related to this? It just tells you what to do. "Permanent" SAE faults are used in new-ish cars.

It's out of ISTA
It does not just tell you but tests as well for those codes and ista shows testing procedures and sequences for those codes

Recently i got one of them codes, after a dealer visit " I " end-up driving 500Miles before check-engine went away and then i was able to delete vacuum code 


EXAMPLE
Those 3 code are for CAT testing and you have to follow it exactly for monitors to be set(do it once, do it right! There is good comebacks and there is BAD comebacks)
P0420,P0430,P0440, if you DO NOT follow as it says you will drive an additional 30~75miles(extra time and money) for those tests to be repeated and tests to show as completed
Those test procedures are NOT only for BMW or ISTA, those test procedure can be applied to other car manufacturers

IMO these tests are useless. It has been this way for a long time and is not considered new information.

sometimes i'll drive the car in stop and go traffic for 10 minutes and the cat is ready and other times driving the car after 30 minutes 80mph steady throttle to be ready. each car i feel is different.

sometimes you'll get CAN timeout errors after programming and they stay after reset learning function and they dont go away until the car is driven for an unspecified amount of time.
