BMW G20 6U3 Digital Instrument Cluster Testing
Hello everyone,
I received a used G20 speedometer and would like to test it, but it shows no reaction when connecting pins 5,6 (12V) and 11, 12 (ground), is there a defect or does this speedometer require a wake-up signal from the canbus. I don't want to install this speedometer yet, because I don't know the mileage. If have anyone a idea, without risk that the mileage may increase. Thanks in advance. |

I think activation is done by can messages from the car. So most likely you will have to emulate ignition on sending right can message to turn it on.

Thanks for your answer.
I also think that a CAN signal is necessary. With the F series, it still worked with 12V to operate the speedometer. I thought there might be another way, because then i virginized the eeprom before I installed it. |
