Hi there,

I'm looking for some information on how to flash a BDC to a higher istep. The reason is for installing Union Jack taillights the OEM way. So adding HELC to the HO-Wort. The lamps are now mounted on the basis of FDL coding and I have already had to re-code them 2 times.

Now I've seen some videos but can't really figure it out.
I have the latest Full psdz data file and esys. I also have power maintainer. Is there anyone who could help me flash my BDC?
I want to do this in the car and not on a bench. Thanks in advance for the effort taken.

Just calculate tal and deselect all other modules except BDC and press the flash button.

I don't understand how this happens. If you add the HO-wort HELC, the next time someone updates it, it will automatically code the BDC correctly, even if you used FDL coding. Only if someone codes the BDC using E-sys the coding is lost, but that does not happen very often.

Yes, you can always add the HELC to HO-Wort. However, it will not work if the BDC does not have the correct date of when the UnionJack taillights were introduced. Until then you have to do it via FDL code. These are temporary code and they disappear with an update or vo code of the BDC. That's why I want to Update my BDC, so that your HELC option works.

This of course sounds quite simple. However, since this is the heart of electronics, I want to make sure I understand the steps. Could you send me a private message? Because there also seem to be certain settings in Esys that you should or should not have on. Would love to hear from you.

You should start with the basics, reading the e-sys documentation. Just like all of us did when we started. Check attachment with link. Good luck.

The answers you will get here, are all based on the fact that you understand the e-sys basics.

If you don't know how to flash with e-sys flash whole car with Ista and I recommend flash whole unless you understand why you should flash just one module.

Hello,
it seems, there is some missunderstandigs about HO Words and handling.
HELC is a suitable solution to get the union jack taillights working on F56 - only what is needed, to have the BDC on a software as the union jack taillights was available.

So, the car was flashed after your retrofit twice, add now HELC as HO Word, write it to the car and code BDC and all will be fine.
