Doing a manual conversion on my R55 which currently is auto.

I've got all the parts, and will make the necessary wiring changes to remove the EGS, wire in the Clutch Switch and Reverse light switch. It's the coding piece that I'm researching now. 

I've done as much reading as I can, and it seems like I need to:

Edit FA/VO to remove S205A and replace with S207A.
Recode/default code all modules
Reset Variant using "varianten_loschen" job in Tool32 on DME


Do I need to program the DME with a manual ZUSB or will the variant reset do what's needed?

In E series you need to program DME with its correspondent gear, YES.

You sure you need to add 207? IMHO that is needed when typecode indicates auto trans ONLY. Usually typecodes indicate manuals...

Got it, so just remove 205..

I think I figured it out, used the FindECU/SA-helper tool.

Looks like the auto or manual variant has the same ZB - the difference is primarily whether the car has a/c or automatic a/c.

ZB 7636702 or 8642096 will do the trick. Is there any rule as to which one you'd select, the one with the 'latest' number being 'best'?

If there is no difference in the SALAPA flash any of them, if you had an issue, flash to the other one .. simple rule

N14 definitely has a different ZBnr for manual/auto.
Are you sure you used the correct typecode for manual?
