XZBMW  BMW R1250GS country/region coding
Hey ISTA experts,

I have a EU-region R1250GSA that had corrupt coding on it cluster. Coding recovery  with ISTA naturally wrote coding to all ECUs, but somehow changed to bike to US region??

Before I was able to change speed/mileage/temp units between km/mls and degC/degF etc on the TFT cluster itself, but now that is no longer possible because the US bikes don't allow it. ISTA also does not have that type of Vehicle Modification coding available like it used to on older GSes.

Does anyone know how the BMW region coding works on K001 chassis? Is it possible to change it?

Best,
GSTech

You can code it using esys.
Is the bike EU or US? Im not sure how the ISTA can change the region unless FA was modified.

RE: BMW R1250GS country/region coding
Do not change the region code, because it will not be good if it goes to a callback!
And these vehicles are often recalled just because of software! smile

Leave it on ECE type code (0J51, 0M11) and add 326 to VO!

Or you can change to 0J53 or 0M13 the type code in e-sys.
But then maybe the user can't set up to ECE unit in the menue!

RE: BMW R1250GS country/region coding
Thanks guys.

So what is also strange is that these Individualization VO entries were added by ISTA when recovering the coding (they weren't present before):
GRAC - Individualisation, degrees Celsius
LPKM - Individualisation, l/100km
MLPH - Individualisation, mls

Actually checked again, the temp and consumption units can still be modified from the cluster, but distance (and speed) has disappeared from the cluster menu. That is typical of the US R1250 bikes, which is why I say the region must have been changed somehow.
Any other ideas why that would disappear from the cluster?

I'll check the ECE types in the mean time!

Yes I have an ICOM and ISTA+/ISTA-P, but I don't have access to the bike at the moment.
I would really like to fix it myself when I have it again, can you please explain what you plan to do remotely?

I will need to get E-sys as well it seems...

Thanks!
