Does anybody know if Mercedes allows you to buy a Xentry subscription and use the second hand original C6 VCI?

Nope, xentry vci lite contract includes the vci in the price, so you cannot use your own, besides, the price you buy a second hand vci is higher than the new one from the contract

From the included document you can see Mercedes is selling J2534 Pass Thru software subscription and Software-Hardware kit.
So I am still confused.

Those prices are wrong. They have gone up. So you are in the USA. You can buy the Xentry kit 4 which comes with 42 months of updates and gives you access to everything except FBS4 keys. You can also buy the J2534 which is only software and can do ECU, TCU and ISM from 2004 to 2017. From 2018 and up you have access to all modules. You can use second hand hardware but it has to be comple Xentry kit 3 or 4 legitimately purchased from MBUSA by the original owner.
