Hello. I wanted to ask is there software update for Bmw 5er,2011? 
Can i do it through usb or phone? Do i need to pay for it? Is there Navi Europe update? 
I tryed to write vin number on bmw site for update but it just says error. Thanks

2. NO, not through USB or phone. Through USB only phone support can be updated (still quite old).
3. Again DEPENDS on what map you now have. Also depends on whether you have business or pro nav.

So i had small navi when i bought my car three years ago. But for few monts i installed bigger navi with maps and everything in. I didnt update it from then. I dont know when was it last updated. I have europe map. But i dont know if its business or pro. I think ita just normal one. 

I can send you vin in pm,if you can help me. Should i go to bmw service and ask about software update? Or is it possible to do it at home? Thanks

OK, your car had no nav from factory. Now you probably replaced it with pro, given the screen is bigger.

On pro current latest map is 2024-1.

However, you MUST know HOW it was activated:
1. IF using fake FSC, then you can update map, and most probably you have latest software version already.
2. IF script then you will not be able to update map that easily and you can have any software version, even older than car, because no data on which VIN unit came from.

If you go to dealer for software update you WILL loose nav activation in ANY case and your maps will stop working. And that is IF someone who put new unit did it properly. If NOT, then dealer apps with freak out and dealer will not be able to perform software update AT ALL.

P.S. These units are now kinda old by now so there is a risk that any software update may brick your unit (but usually that happens more on E series cars, but the risk is still there).

P.P.S. I'm assuming that you have updated it to CIC, but it is possible even newer unit was put in your car using emulators. No way to know without any visual reference. Which you can do yourself... just search in internet for how to identify which nav you have on bmw, just ignore any years specified, look just for pictures!
