Ac427 yes the mod has to be done to use the can bus side of the a1 but I didn't do that but I brought one already done. And liviu2004 I don't think you can just replace a k-line Ecu with a can bus Ecu? as I Tyres it didn't work for me

Hello, all, even both simtec 71 and simtec 71.6 use the same platform, first communicates on k-line, the second communicates on can. So, assuming that you will reflash them, swapping the flash dump from one to another, the pins will be reconfigurated by the new installed flash file... i didn't try the swap, but i think it might work.
Just think about theese remarks:
1. Hardware: the pinout config is allocated by the constructor to work only that way( simtec 71 on k-line, and simtec 71.6 on can)
2. Software (flash dump): by putting a flash dump from a 71.6 into a 71 will be made using k-line(with galletto or mpps or kess or xprog ect), then, after rebooting, it will only communicate via CAN. Viceversa will be also possible. So, this way, the new soft flashed in the ecu will configurate by itself the pinouts! From changing k-line into CAN, the ECU will communicate only via CAN. From can into k-line there will be communication only via k-line pinout #5 and CAN will be deactivated on pinouts #6(CANLow) and #38(CANHigh).
3. Software (eeprom dump): by modifying the vin number into an eeprom, the ecu will try to reconfigure the settings of the pinout by recalculating the i/o commands using the new vin number to adapt a map on the new car. Meaning the injection, euro cat exhausting parameter, even the amount of fuel consomption and noxes controlled, even lambdas, a lot of things reconfiguring from the start, in order to work on the car we put it.

So, having theese 3 options, can someone give a real clue how they have done the swap and how it works, step by step?
