No changing vin will not cause any problems

Easy way is to do full backup of your old dme and then copy it to the new one.Any good chip tuning tool can do it on the bench by BDM.

Does the NEW DME needs to be the exact part number as old? or different will work after software flash.

1) Replacing FA, NCS adding code
W 205 AUTOMATIK AUTOM //AUTOMATIK-GETRIEBE
or (depends on the automatic transmission)
W 206 SEQ_GETRIEBE AUTOM //SEQUENZIELLES MANUELLES GETRIEBE entfallen nie Serie PA252/327
NCS coding for modular series with new FA

2)CAS and DME / DDE programming for automatic transmission
You need to find the appropriate soft for these modules, as someone can do it ista_P will show what ZUSB numbers for WINKFPT programming

3)Enrolling the ISN code in the EGS driver (will change VIN too)
Bmw explorer
Autohex
maybe the AK300??
, Abritus Commander
