AUDI R* Cluster change. - laytonanthony - 15-10-2017

Guys
in the process of changing my audi r8 cluster fromt the early red illuminated type to the newer white illuminated type.
i understand its not plug and play and requires me to read the data of the one set and flash it onto the new set.
The cluster does have the micronas chip (3217G). I do have an xprog clone 5.60 which supports this chip. I have found the wiring diagram of the foum but states to use the twisted coax cable. my cable witht my xprog hasnt got one. is it a case of just still pining it the same with the cable i got?
Also do i need to read and then write just the micronas or is there anymore chips i need to read?

also the pcb does remove from the clock and plugs onto the new clocks display. could it be just the case of puttingb my old odometer pcb onto the new clocks as its only the illumination i require.

kind regards
anthony

Xprog is for reading micronas and 24c32 eeprom and with special function you can change vin, mileage, pin but without other tools you can't edit mac, config, keys, cs...

I you have read out micronas and eeprom from old cluster and new cluster than post it here or send me pm than you get help

I changed a lot of cluster from a3 and tt which is same as r8 without any error like others tools

OK. Cluster turns up tomorrow so I'll first try and read the new cluster before I start messing with my working set.

So no way just to swap pcb onto the new clicks?

Do you think it's so easy only change pcb?
If yes than ask you the question why some develop tools like avdi, xprog, smok,...

RE: AUDI R* Cluster change. - laytonanthony - 16-10-2017

No you don't understand. The pcb that contains the information clips onto the clocks. I'm only changing clocks for the newer illumination dials and lcd panel. Nothing more. So i was wondering if I put my old dash pcb onto the new clocks it could Be a straight swap. That make sense?

Pic shows pcd which clips to the clocks... [Image: e3c7bea6adb7136ef872a16a30f7d35e.jpg][Image: 9b46db30a1024ec9eca18b9b74c484c7.jpg]

You can't swap any pcb between two clusters, it won't work.
I can help you, please send me the files of two clusters and I will configure new one for start your car.
You need to read 3217G Micronas + eeprom 24c32 for both clusters and send me.

Hi mate
Thanks.
I've read the new cluster. I now just need to read my cluster out of my car.
What's your email address?
Kind regards
Anthony
