Buy a Genuine ICOM. the clones work sometimes but if you are using for a business or for regular flashing, it is not worth the risk with a clone.

A few years ago I bought ICOMs A2 from ali. Then I started to notice the difference in quality. The first few were good. I still use the first one, almost every day, without any problem. So good clones do exist. But I prefer not to update it and use it with Ista 2018. The quality of the other ICOMs was like a lottery. E.g. voltage measurement +/- 1V. Poorly crimped rj45..etc. For newer cars I use the genuine ICOM.

I know this thread might be a little outdated, but I will ask here instead of starting a new thread. Is VCX SE an okay substitute for genuine ICOM? And I say okay, because most likely will never be fully substitute for genuine.

AFAIK there is no good substitue for genuine ICOM.
I've read some about vcx se and mostly seen that ppl sell it further and buy ori icom

To be honest genuine icom next is not that expensive, even with a margin of some reseller You can have it for around 750 euro.

Not really an issue with the price per say, was looking for a J2534 that would work well across multiple software. I know in realty no substitute will be better than original, bit I have heard of situations where a clone product actually outperform the original, ofcourse this hasn't happen with icom so far and probably never will.

Forget clones, make a lot of problems. Communication issues, make failures when programming car. Very cheap, and bad electronic parts inside the clones. Pay much not too more, and buy genuine ICOM and never problem with the interface. I'm using an original ICOM Next every day since 6 years, never have any problem.
