RE: Programming KOMBI and NBT fails on F series
There are problems with both ICOM and ENET. ENET can't flash all ZGW modules and ICOM can't flash any NBT units (including all other control units in MOST bus like KOMBI, AMP and so on). Fix is the same for both, use DHCP server to assign IP adresses. With ENET you can flash NBT even without DHCP server and with ICOM you can flash ZGW without DHCP server. You can even flash whole car without DHCP server by first flashing the ZGW with ICOM and then flashing the rest with ENET.
I meant that ENET is no worse than ICOM, and very very likely original ICOM is no worse than ENET. Anyway the difference is academic. Chinese cloned ICOM's can be worse than ENET. New original ICOM Next costs around 510 euros, I think that there is no different between it and ENET in reliability. I don't even remember when I last time used ICOM for F-series flashing, it was over a year ago anyway. |

RE: Programming KOMBI and NBT fails on F series
In eSys you can switch off "Activate programming mode for switchable ECUs" under Parameters in TAL-Processing and you can update kombi/NBT modules no problem, just takes very long time

I know that flashing NBT with ENET and Esys works.
But I wanna try to flash with ISTA/P like the BMW Dealer does it. For the DHCP Server, does it mean I have to connect the ENET Cable to a router and the Computer too? Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5X mit Tapatalk |

You don't need a router, but you do need a DHCP server on the ethernet interface on your laptop. The problem is that either the ENET or ICOM interface doesn't get an IP to start programming when those modules are flipped into boot loader mode. So they basically time out and abort programming. DHCP Server works the same with ENET or ICOM, it'll hand out IP addresses to all the devices connected to the Ethernet port and inside the vehicle. |

RE: Programming KOMBI and NBT fails on F series
Hello guys,
I would like to update I-Step on my HU_NBT and COMBI (nothing else). I have a good/working installation of ISTA/P 3.58.2 and an ENET cable. The only thing I do not understand is how to select only these 2 ECU's in ISTA/P for Updating. I would like to know exactly step by step what to do in ISTA/P to do this correctly. Also, I would like to know if I can do this on KOMBI and HU_NBT only, or if I am forced to do other modules as well (dependent). Can you point me out to a guide or tutorial on how to do this with ISTA/P? I already know how to do it with E-SYS but I am a little bit hesitant, I think I'll do this with ISTA/P... Thanks you so much! S- |

Since it's a direct connection it doesn't matter. Although it will be assigning IPs to all the various devices on the vehicle network so I'd just leave it alone. |

If you said ENET+DHCP server is valid for MOST programming,How to setup?is it same with ICOM?please give me detailed information.thx a lot! |

F-Series vehicles only program via ENET, there's no MOST port on a F-Series vehicle to connect to. If a module needs to be programmed via MOST, the ZGW handles communication from ENET to MOST. |
