new OpenDos

WIS

please?

Opendos Xentry - Xdos: New diagnosys software, works with windows 7
Das Xentry: Previous diagnosys software, works with XP
EPC: Electronic parts catalogue
WIS: Workshop information system - The WIS contains detailed instructions for repair work. It provides information on vehicle-specific
retrofits and any effects these may have on mainten
ance or repairs

@ CATAHA

Which software is better? Xentry Opendos or Das Xentry? Could you explain the benefits of each one?

Thanks in advance!

From what i remember back in my computer repair days ....
OpenDOS is an emulator, similar to Virtual Machine now a days
Main purpose of it, to have a 4Bit && 8bit && 16Bit programms run on newer processors and newer Operation Systems, now a days mostly common are 64 and 32 bit, newer systems are going to be either 128 or 256 bit cause it's already time for it to hit the market
Anyways... I'm thinking that HW is either 8bit or 16 Bit program mostly used on pre 2000~1 cars
Then DAS kicked in and works on 2001~2009
Then Xentry kicks in from 2008 ~ current
So you just have to figure out on what cars you work mostly to know what too choose either OpenDOS Xentry or Plain Xentry
Any ways in a year or two we will eventually switch on to either OpenDOS version or completely something else

I used OpenDOS and Plain version and i have not seen a difference on how it works, other then the Boot-up Speed, Opening program speed, maybe 2~7 seconds faster
CAN communication protocol is at LOW speed now a days, maybe in 2~5 years when inside of a CAR protocols are going to be changed to Higher speed that's when will see the deference in OpenDOS version vs Plain Xentry

I give you an example i have one version that's 2013 and another version is 2015 and another version is 2006
Before last year i work on cars mostly pre-2008 now many customers for last two months bought new cars 2004~2012 so now i see alot of those cars but still DO NOT SEE 2014~2016 and so far at the moment there is NO NEED to switch on too 2016 version cause most HW/DAS/Xentry/WIS/EPC stuff still sufficient for me too work on cars smile

If any of my posts or current one helps then don't forget to press thanks and add a reputation thankyou
