RE: VAG 12.12 cable issue
I already got a refund and they didn't want the cable back, so I thought I would give it one last effort to try getting it to work. Probably should just move on and buy from another source. Thanks

RE: VAG 12.12 cable issue
As i saw in china there's twp kind of softwears for two diffrent serials.
Maybe you have a tool with diffrent softwear version. What version of sofftwear do you have, i mean which one. If you want to make it working in 64 bits you need to install the original softwears first and tick "install 32 bits drivers in 64 bits sistems" when in the original softwear instalation menue. Then reboot and try to install back the softwear that you recived and no uninstall the original softwear. Plug the interface to the car to supplie the 12V and then to the USB. Checl in the Device Manger if the tool is recognozed and the give it a try. After any message go to ABOUT and take a look and see if the serial it is Unrecognized the this means that you use a diffrent softwear version that you need for your tool. The best it is to try first in a 32 bits softwear then if it is working you can try the procedure that I told you above Good luck |

RE: VAG 12.12 cable issue
Thanks! I will give that a try and see. I don't have a 32-bit system to try and I'm not sure if my friend will let me borrow his system again so I will probably just have to try it on the 64-bit system.

RE: VAG 12.12 cable issue
Update.... Tried installing as suggested on my 64-bit system and the supplied software will not install. It looks as though it's going to work and then fails when you try and run it. It seems there something like "fake_date" running in the software that crashes it.
I did get a chance to install it on my friend's 32-bit laptop again and found the weirdest thing. The cable fails the cable test as before BUT the about page shows the cable as activated/Valid and the buttons are not greyed out. I didn't have my car available to test but it looks like the cable might be OK and it's just a problem with the software, ie. 32-bit only. By chance does anyone have a 64-bit version of the software that might work with this cable? The original software won't work as the cable provides the previously listed errors when testing. Otherwise, is there a way I could convert this cable to work with the original software? Thx. |

You mixed up some things! 1) You have Chinese clone interface, then this interface NEVER CAN NOT work with GENUINE (Ross-Tech) software 2) Try to install this USB 64-bit drivers for your version VCDS software, if do not work again, then you have faulty VCDS cable. 3) Can you put here picture of "Test" interface and "Device Manager"? |
