There is a thread on this forum for correct timing settings on older cars in edibas.ini for USB-Like cables

Could you give me a link?

Next question is how to update E46/E39 etc. with ISTAP? My ISTAP 3.57.4 doesnt recognize updates, when i connect car i don't see updates, do I have to put ZUSB numbers manually? How to do that. Newer cars updates are OK.

To resolve connecting problems with ECU modules in old cars you can increase response time on receive and connecting commands in Ediabas.ini.
This affects all cables ICOM, K-Line adapter, K-Dcan etc.......

Original
TimeoutConnect = 2000
TimeoutReceive = 2000
TimeoutFunction = 10000

Change to
TimeoutConnect = 20000
TimeoutReceive = 20000
TimeoutFunction = 59000

If any of my posts or current one helps then don't forget to press thanks and add a reputation thankyou

RE: BMW E39 DDE 4.0 Programming with WinKFP?
Hello

Reviving an old thread. Trying to flash DDE 4.0 ECU with Winkfp and KDCAN(Bimmergeeks) adapter. Diagnostics everything is working well but only the flash does not succeed. Getting an IFH-0010 error. Tried also changing the ediabas.ini settings but still no luck. With Icom I could restore the ECU to working state. But would like to use also the DCAN adapter to update the DDE 4.0 ecu.
On newer ecus like DDE 5.0 no problem using the KDCAN adapter.

I can also confirm that there is a problem with updating DDE4 using DCAN, but if you set latency in device manager to 16ms, everything will be okay. All other drivers must be 1ms, strange but for me it works always biggrin
I have to try CATAHA soultion also
