Affordable quality power supplies for programing our cars!!
Hello friends, Just would like to share how i built affordable high quality 120 amps 14.4 v power supply for my car. These power supplies are built to run 24x7@365 days.Voltage is adjustable from 12.2 volts to 14.4 v max with very nice voltage regulation.Voltage just remains constant doesn't matter you load it with 120 amps or .1 amp.

This is a great idea.

A lot of clone tools fail to read or write properly because there is not a stable sustained voltage supply.

These server power supplys are high quality components yet they are plentiful and cheap to obtain.

Thanks for sharing Ninja congrats

RE: Affordable quality power supplies for programing our cars!!
Guys just came across on ebay Astec 15v 100 amps power supply(Voltage adjustable from 14v to 16v) listed for $299.Its really heavy duty industrial power supply with all kinds of protections. Its even got reverse polarity protection.Even the output terminals are made from heavy duty copper bars!!New ones from the factory costs more than $1000.It can be a nice power supply for programming. Its 100% better than chinese no name power supplies which are close to $500.Thought it would help some one.
Link in the text file attached.

Note:I have no connection with the seller.Just posting because it might help someone.

Hi ninja, I've ordered this Astec 15v and it's arriving to my home, it's time to prepare the mod. May I know what mod should do on the Astec 15v for the ISTA/P programming purpose?

Thanks.

Hi Simonchs, No mods needed on Astec power supply that i mentioned in the post above.Just hookup the wires and ready to go.You may want to adjust the voltage to probably 14.4 volts via a potentiometer which is located by the output terminals. You can access that potentiometer from outside without opening anything.Voltage is adjustable from 14v to 16 volts.I think 14.4 volts should be enough to use it with ISTA-P.Also try to use thick cable( 0 gauge wire) and good quality heavy duty copper clamps to reduce voltage drop and voltage fluctuation.
