Oh Yes! Bingo! Jeroenbmw saved me. I am not sure what he did but seems like he made an FA for the car and flashed the ZGW and hey presto. Car fired right back to life. It was like a dream. Many thanks to all members. All suggestions really appreciated and indeed Esys and Psdzdata is the way to go. ISTAP can be as useless as can be when things go this wrong and considering it is the very same culprit who put me here. Am not sure if ISTA+ would be any better, I guess ISTA+ is just istaD with ISTAP coding added to it.

I tried injecting a VO through ISTAP before the assistance, it accepted and attempted to rectify but I guess it could not figure out that ZGW needed a reflash. Room for BMW.

i have back up file F10 ,send me vin to check VO,maybe can help u wake up the car

Yes, this is what was required, a full FA. Thanks for the suggestion. We got it going.

Have you tried restoring with E-SYS & PSdzData Full?

Exactly what was needed but my knowledge of Esys is rudimentary at best. Back to class to improve my skillshappy

It would be best to attach everything with a charger and then send TeamViewer login.
Can also look at me gladly when help is needed.
If you need help then send a PM
But take a lot of time to save everything.

Exactly what we did. Thank you for your concern.

1. Are you changing settings to suit interface?
2. If so, is ICOM working correctly?

Simple things first

I could connect with ICOM but ISTAD would not see the car. Esys and ISTAP could see it. ISTD could see car but only with DCAN.

ENET cable was completely useless.

So let me try from what I saw my savior do.

1. From Esys, no FA could be read, no SVT. Reading ECUs revealed only ZGW module, software and cafd showing as unknown.

2. I believe he created an FA offline then did some things am still not too familiar with e.g TAL calculation e.t.c.

3. Finally he flashed the ZWG module, too just about 3 minutes. After that he read FA and hey presto! Everything was back.

What I think happened is that ISTAP corrupted ZGW while attempting to program it. Interestingly attempts to program all other modules before it had also failed. So maybe there was no way of interrogating the car but looks like Esys can still flash any ECU that can be seen whether it is blank or corrupted as long as it is alive

Let Jeroenbmw advise if he pleases. I am not competent enough to address better skilled forum membersnospeak

This forum is a savior, am honored to be a member.

Congrats on bringing the car back to life.

What is strange to me is in my understanding ZGW has always to be flashed as the very first ECU in the list, while you report it was moved by ISTAP to the bottom of the list...I can't believe ISTAP could work like that..

If the measures plan is anything to be believed, the order of programming was

TRSVC
JBE
DME
EGS
SMBF
FZD
SMFA
KOMBI
ZGM

unless it runs them from up down! Don't know to be honest.

Coming to think of it. Has anyone used ISTA 3.62.03 from our torrent to successfully update a car? Could it be that the ISTA copy is unstable?
