What would be your choice is you were just starting the hobby knowing what you know now?

Cheapest eu clone entrypoint is eu mpps v18 which is fine for vag vehicles.. and yes whatever you choose you should use a decent 100 amp battery support unit.

If you go kess... then contact sellers about real eu clone ok

Does the china clones not work? Can you point me in the direction of a legit seller or eu clones?

you need realy good power suply with any tool by this ecu..I read/write it by mpps v16,galletto v53 both can do the yob only 14 volts needed..good luck

Hi how are you going about it with the mpps v16 programer? If you don't mind me asking.

What power suppy are you using?
What OS?
Is the ECU in the car or on a bench?

I was at Same problem when I started, also didn’t know which tool to buy. At the end I landed by a user here who offers rework service for clones. I send him my Ktag 7.020 and kess 5.017 red pcb to rework both of them, it costs some money, yes, but it was good spend money. Tools are working fine now, never had any problems more. Support from him is also every time you need. He said the tools are after his rework working like EU ones. If Interested send me pm or search in the marketplace area

China clone mpps v16 will kill that ecu for sure. Many components missing, u can use it for edc15, but too risky for edc16 and others. I killed with that crap ecu in Vectra C (edc16c9)....

Bought Kess from one guy from CT and till now no problem, works like it should.
Flash Golf V 2005 and Passat 2007 2.0 TFSI -> no hassle!

Time to have a look at it in Winols. I'm thinking that's going to be another challenge.

The problem was with mpps v16. I changed the car type to a different car with MED9.x.x and kept the voltage above 13v.

The car i am using is for practise only. It has already been messed around with according to MPPS v16. Says the can has been flashed 70 successful times. (Might be an error in mpps)

I definitely don't wont to kill the ecu but i take it if i do there will be a way to recover it. You might need to open it and remover some chips but that's all part of the fun.

I told you in pm this should 100% work by changing car model..mpps v16 is intresting tool iven if clone I flashed many ecus iven edc17 til 2010..sometimes I am lazy to fire up my kess v2 and steel use mpps many times without problem
