RE: DME downgrade protection
Newest DME version 6MC9EEBB has Tuner protection. Needs bootmode flash back to old BTLD and ROM version and can be tuned.
The new BTLD prevents downgrade of SWFL or BTLD, and the existing patches do not work on the new BTLD it seems. |

RE: DME downgrade protection
I suspect it won't be long before the Tuning companies get round this - after all the F series cars were supposed to be "un-crackable" when launched.

RE: DME downgrade protection
I guess your DME was in programing state as our. I know that ISTA can fix it and can flash. Maybe ESYS can`t. ISTA Offline will be fine with new ilevel.
About tuning protection. Where do you get this information and is it real information? |

RE: DME downgrade protection
Don‘t understand the problem? Why do you want to flash anything with ista?
Just take Autotuner or Flex and do it on bench Br |

You have to : Remove air intake plenum Remove charge air duct to throttle valve Remove intake filter housing Remove charge air cooler Remove ignition coil cover A lot to do. Secondly, tuning via OBD2 was always possible. The question is. Is it still safe to do via OBD2 on new ilevel or Tuning Protection exist ? |

It can also be offline ISTA standalone or ESYS, but with the same version i-level as it is in a car or newer one. It has no tuning protection. All these tuning tools and their “virtual libraries” only match a couple parts of the SWFL & BTLD and give you a file they have on file. They just don’t have the latest bootloader patched yet. |

As far as I remember, you can see connectors as soon, you dismounted wir filter case. Than you can bench it Not shure if I did it that was only on N55 or on M2 Comp, too. It was around 5-10 min. That‘s the time, you save on writing in bench. Br |
