Check whether Siri is enabled on the iphone or not, if not, you need to turn it on.

Have you also tried to update or synchronize connected drive? It was something like you choose connected drive and then options button on controller

I had KML and XL to active, changed to not_active but still wont start sad

hlip, I have updated but CarPlay still won't start.

Siri is on.

What's strange is that when I try to pair the phone with the car, it gets to the final step where it says "Connecting to Apple CarPlay". Hangs there for a while and then I can see the phone listed for telephone, BT, apps but for CarPlay it tells me to delete device and pair again.

Also, the wifi 'BMWxxxxx CarPlay' is visible but the Phone won't auto-connect. If I connect manually, the phone already knows the password for this network but CP still wont show up.

Headunit is probably corrupt from patching and then fresh software update for Bmw on top .
You can try restore headunit to factory and then import original FSC and then patch again.
We seen this issue many times due the cars Now having the DDE recall and been programmed in the dealer .

Delete previous CarPlay pairing on your Iphone. Settings -> General -> Carplay
Remove your car from here, and pair again.

I have used Feature Installer to repatch, unpatch, repatch etc a few times, but with no result. I have used the same code that worked with the old ILevel.

When I unpatch, it removes all FSC codes right? Because the BMW Navi doesn't load. How can I get hold of the original FSC codes?

It's more than that.. I have tried paring, resetting profiles, settings, clearing bluetooth, wifi etc on both car and phone. As I said, I can see Carplay in the car menus, but that's it, it doesn't load.

Reflash the HU, it will bring stock files to evo, then use repair pack to activate original fsc and finally use feature installer again.
