Hey guys,
I have 2 identical icoms, also bought at the same time from the same dealer. Must have been 10 years. However, one of the two can no longer read the chassis numbers and is therefore no longer available in ISTA. Even if I connect it via itoolradar (which works) and I open INPA (terminal 30,15 are recognized) I cannot establish a connection to the control units. Identical firmware is installed. Has anyone had this problem or know what I can do?

Yeah something happened to clone icoms with the latest ista, I want to know also. I'm pretty sure firmware thing. But didn't checked it. I'm telling firmware thing because oem icom next works with same ista.

To OP: which cars are you trying to read?

I have had the same problem, the Icom reads no K-line or the Icom reads no can bus.

than you will find the icom in itool radar and an you can see clear kl 15 and 30. but no connection.

After it was time to dump it in the bin.

E65 uses KLine. Most probably KLine circuitry in your ICOM have died (in my experience that circuitry is usually first to die on old chinesiums). There were couple of threads about fixing this on this forum. Just search. But be advised, that there is no single point of failure which would be like 99% guaranteed fix...

Also test it on newer cars (starting from like E60 LCI which began to use CAN). It can well be that will work. Then decide what to do - throw it away, try to fix or use of newer cars.

Funny as I had one which would read VIN and ID vehicle but would not talk to any modules, I unselected "Standard ICOM" Voila worked again. This was after updating ISTA+ & then firmware in ICOM.
